Privacy & cookies
Short version: we store the travel content you create, we don't sell anything to anyone, and non-essential cookies only run if you say yes.
What we store
- Your account email, display name, optional photo and home city.
- The travel content you create: chats, itineraries, saved map places, trip journal entries with photos or videos, and friend connections.
- Technical data needed to run the service, such as sign-in sessions and error logs.
Cookies and similar storage
- Strictly necessary: keeps you signed in, protects the account and remembers your cookie choice. These are always on and cannot be switched off.
- Preferences: remembers your language, theme, last map position and dismissed tips. Only stored if you allow it.
- Analytics: a random visitor id and the pages you view, so we can see which parts of the guide are used. No third-party tracker, no advertising network, no profiling.
- Marketing: remembers which campaign or link brought you here so we know which adverts are worth running.
Your choices
- You choose per category when you first arrive, and you can change or withdraw consent at any time from the Cookie settings link in the footer.
- We ask again after six months. Rejecting non-essential cookies never limits any travel feature.
Who sees your data
- Your chats, itineraries and journal are private to your account. Trip entries are shared only with the friends you accept, according to the visibility you pick.
- We use processors to run the service — hosting and database, the AI model that writes answers, map and geocoding services, and speech transcription. They process only what a request needs, and we never sell your data.
Location and photos
- Location is only read when you tap a nearby-suggestions button, and it is used for that request. Photos and videos you upload to your journal are stored privately for your account and shared only as you choose.
Keeping and deleting
- We keep your content until you delete it or close your account. Analytics records are anonymous and kept in aggregate.
- You can export your itineraries and chats, delete individual items, or delete your account from your profile — which removes your content permanently.
Your rights and contact
- You can ask for a copy of your data, correct it, or have it erased. Write to privacy@hiddenlocaltours.com and we'll answer within 30 days.
